An Interview With ACBeam

Image
Background A little context first. So as I said in my last post, I planned to do Terantula next before the plans fell through. Since I wanted Insanity's input on the article, I stopped everything and waited for them to finish the work that was holding them up. After a few months I realized keeping my promise wasn't worth it and that it'd be better for me to look for something new in the meantime, so my plate was basically free. During those months in an at-the-time unrelated venture, I reached out to talk with another animator I respect, unsure if he'd respond. Fortunately, he did.  Like most fans of his work, I had a LOT of questions for ACBeam, and was pleased when he graciously answered every one. I cut off my questioning after a while, not wanting to bother him any more for what was basically just a chat with a fan, but his willingness to reply left me wanting to ask more. Yet, I'd end up leaving it at that for the time being. Some time later while trying to thi

I'm Alive! Hey everyone still reading this, sorry about the lack of activity. There's been a lot going on as of late. Other projects have been piling up and the plan I had for the last post sort of fell through for a number of reasons. Those of you who paid attention to the hint at the bottom of the last post were able to pick up that the next character would've been Terantula. Funnily enough, what started out as an independent deep dive was starting to look like something more when I found the creator behind Terantula, Insanity. Unfortunately, it turns out that Insanity is very busy these days and it'll be a while before I get to do their character and that post much justice. However, I'm finally back and I have something else lined up. Something else that will be of interest to many of you. I'd tell now, but I don't want to spoil the surprise. See you in a few days! Rock On.

Andre - The First RHG...?

Image
Prelude If you've been around the Gildedguy community lately, or are just a fan of the more old-school characters, chances are you've encountered this guy at some point: Image by  En3l Andre. Electric man with a big hammer. These days he's not as well known as characters like FLLFFL or Oxob, but those that do know him remember him for a very specific reason: He was the first RHG. The original, the founder, the start of it all. He was even created by "Papa" Stone himself, the very person who made the RHG system in the first place. It's an honor that's long been attributed to him and has stuck to his image like gum on the bottom of a shoe. But unfortunately, it's a bit more complicated than that. Through a combination of  Stone's personal accounts and some personal research of my own, I have compiled a well of information about the character, the background behind his creation, and his history, to paint a complete picture of RHG's grandfather an

Stone - The Foundation

It all starts here Originally, this post was going to be about Terkoiz's character FLLFFL. I changed my mind.  Due to something extraordinary that I was able to take a part in, I decided I wanted to talk about someone else instead. Someone even more important than Terkoiz. Someone more important than anyone else in the community. In fact, I am comfortable and confident in saying that every single thing in the stick community can be traced back to this one man . To this one rock that became the foundation for everything that would follow. So who is he already? Stone Travis Steven, aka "Stone".  I mentioned him before in my preceding post about the creation of RHG. He was the man who created RockHardAnims and in doing so kicked off an entire legacy of internet animation. But it wasn't that simple, something that big never is. Before going any further, I would like to link to  Sopple's article on the FluidAnims-Stickpage merger . It tells the true story of what happe

What is RHG?

Introduction Hello, and welcome to RHG Legacy. If you've been around the internet for a while then chances are you've had some form of encounter with stick figures and stick figure animation. Whether you remember watching the original Shock Trilogy on stickpage.com or you like to gun down people as a mysterious man in golden armor in Fortnite, I bet most people reading this have at least SOME form of familiarity with it by now. And that's great! With all the new stick content going around and the rising popularity of artists like Alan Becker, Gildedguy, and Puffbals United, now may be one of the best points in history for the stickman community as a whole. But what about what's been left behind? I'm not here to talk about stick animation as a whole. Lord knows I'm not qualified enough for that. Instead, I am going to be focusing on a specific facet of the community that I'm slightly more qualified to cover in detail. A specific facet that's been largely
